STUDY TIES BEDROOM TV TO UNHEALTHY HABITS IN TEENS (Reuters)
Teenagers with a bed-room television tend to have poorer diet and excercise habits and lower grades in school than those without one, U.S. researchers said.
While many studies have examined TV viewing habits of young people, researchers at the
University of Minnesota School of Public Health said, little had been known about the consequences in particular for older adolescents of having bedroom TV.
Not surprisingly, those with bedroom TV were more apt to watch it a lot, clocking four to five more hours in front of a television per week. Twice as many of the teens with a bedroom TV were classified as heavy TV watchers - at least five hours a day - compares to those without one.
Girls with a bedroom TV reported getting less vigorous exercise - 1.8 hours per week compared to 2.5 hours for girls without a TV. They also ate fewer vegetables, drank more sweetened beverages and ate meals with their family less often.
Boys with a bedroom TV reported having a lower grade point average than boys without one, as well as eating less fruit and having fewer family meals. It really clearly points out there some merit to not allowing your child to have a TV in the bedroom.
When you upgrade your TV in the living room and have this smaller TV that's out of date but still usable, parents should really resist putting it in one of your children's bedroom.

GYM ETIQUETTE
( P. Sabarini)
Some people are not aware of the unspoken rules of the gym. It is a little bit annoying, when the trainer asked to talked with someone in the middle of a set.
1. No talking to people while working out!
2. Don't around chatting in the gym. GO chat in the café. Basic rules of politness apply in the gym.
3. After using another type of equipment in the gym, be sure to wipe it off. No one wants to lie on gym mat that is dripping with someone else's sweat. Even though some instructors routinely wipe down the equipment it's always better to so it yourself.
4. Be careful when handling weights and put them back after you have finished using them. Scattering plates and dumbbells throughout the gym makes extra work for the instructors and the other members.
5. Don't bring food into the gym. The smell was overbearing.
6. The gym is not a pick-up joint. Spare the other gym members from hearing bad pickup lines, such as, "nice abs".
7. Remember your manners in the locker room. Don't stare at other people when they are getting undressed. Respect people privacy in the bathroom.

SOME MYTHS BEHIND MARRIAGE
( newspaper post/ H.P. Ilyas) Getting married is everybody's dream. People's lives will be considered complete when they marry, relatives willbe happy and friends and colleagues will congratulate the lucky couple. Here are some myths that accompany married. First, your relationship with your partner will be better after marriage. Sometimes this can be a trap for the bride and groom-to-be, hoping marriage will improve their relationship. The reality can be totally different. Marriage doesn't always significantly improve a relationship. What makes a good relationship is good communication and understanding. Marriage is not therapy to improve a relationship. Second, your financial condition will be better. This myth is neither true nor false. In fact, some families need both husband and wife to work. On the other hand, some couples' finances do actually improve after marriage. Just remember money management, saving and investment are what is needed to secure your future. Third, life will be easier after marriage. Many people hope life will instantly become beautiful as they tie the knot. This is not always true. As a matter a fact, you'll have more problems since you will automatically inherit new family members from your partner. Forth, you will not be attracted to anyone else. Marriage is a choice to be loyal solely to one person. Taking marriage vows is completely easy, but keeping the vow is not. As we know, many divorces are causes by infidelity. If either of you like playing the field; think twice before marrying at young age since marriage is no cure for a flirt. Fifth, you and your partner will do everything together. Being officially married doesn't mean you and your partner will be always together during leisure time. Neither you and your partner should have abandon your individual hobbies for the sake of the other. Often you will need to pursue your own interest. To avoid unnecessary conflict, the two parties should understand and respect each other's preferences. Shattering the above myths is not intended to deter you from your marriage and lead you to choose to remain permanently single. It is mean to make you realize that marriage is not solution to any problem and does not guarantee everlasting happiness. It all depends on the quality of communication between the two of you.
